Magnification and fiber-optic illumination are invaluable tools that assist the doctor in performing the technical aspects of endodontic treatment. The doctor is aided by an operating microscope, which is equipped with a high-resolution video, to help them document cases and enhance communication.
With the use of advanced non-film dental imaging known as CDR (computed dental radiography) the already low radiation level is reduced by 80% compared to conventional film. An electronic sensor produces computerized radiographs which will appear instantly on a computer screen. These images can be archived, printed and sent electronically to your general dentist.
Metal instruments made of a unique alloy of nickel-titanium are used for cleaning and shaping of the root canal. We use a liquid antimicrobial agent along with the hand and rotary instruments to help remove bacteria and tissue.
Our doctors use MTA (mineral trioxide aggregate) a hydrophilic ceramic material that is used for pulp capping, resorption repair, and perforation repairs, root end filling for a surgical treatment, and apical plug during apexification. Its use as a biocompatible material with excellent resistance to leakage is widely supported by all endodontic literature.
The diamond coated microscopic tips vibrate up to 25,000 cycles per second to insure accurate and speedy preparation of the tooth at the root-end for a retrograde filling in cases when microsurgical intervention is indicated. These ultrasonic units are used to remove posts and metal instruments, as well as aid in the search for calcified canals.
STA is a computer-controlled local anesthesia delivery system, with audio and visual confirmations, make the injections more accurate, less stressful and virtually pain free. With STA we are able to numb a single tooth and the surrounding tissue with a simple, nearly painless injection with almost immediate onset. Patients can’t believe they’ve had a shot, much less a root canal without the unwanted numbing of the lip or tongue. Most patients have said it’s absolutely the best injection they’ve ever received.
